Voluntary heroes from northern Saxony: Order of Merit for Georg and Bölke!

Nordsachsen. A radiant light of recognition illuminates the Torgau region! Karin Georg (82) from Torgau and Detlef Bölke (70) from Langenreichenbach were awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. This honorable honor will be presented on December 9 by Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) in Dresden. A truly glamorous moment for the two committed volunteers!

The award is not only a personal triumph for Georg and Bölke, but also for the community that has been supporting it for decades. A total of 15 people are honored with this order, which is awarded for outstanding merits in politics, social, economy, science and culture. A sign of appreciation for tireless use!

Karin Georg has been involved in the social field for over 40 years. As a former teacher and school director, she took over the chair of the district association of folk solidarity in 1982 and played a crucial role in the redesign of the association after reunification. Under your leadership, the regional association Torgau-Schatz has a retirement home, assisted living and integrative facilities. Your volunteer work is a lively example of the motto "with each other-for each other-live solidarity".

Detlef Bölke , on the other hand, has been active as a mayor in Mockrehna for over 30 years. The community has shaped its tireless efforts for village renewal and social interaction. He not only advanced the rescue of listed buildings, but also initiated innovative projects such as a biogas plant that makes the place energy self -sufficient. Under its leadership, the village community gained numerous awards in competitions, including first place in the state competition "Our village has a future" in 2017.
