Doctors from Vorarlberg outraged: salary qualifications disappoint massive!
Bregenz, Österreich - Dissatisfaction among the Vorarlberg hospital doctors grows after a salary degree has been announced, which only takes into account the inflation. While the doctors should receive an inflation compensation of 3.5 percent, however, this is capped to a maximum of 200 euros. This is perceived as a "slap in the face", says Hermann Blaßnig, the curia chairman of the employed doctors in the medical association. The decided wage increase ensures that about a 48-year-old single specialist will only receive two percent more salary next year-a value that cannot even keep up with inflation and results in significant losses in real income.
The government representatives, including Governor Markus Wallner and Community Association President Andrea Kaufmann, have made it clear to the union that there are no additional financial resources for the salary increases. This contrast to the goals of the state government to improve working conditions and salaries in the hospitals, irritates both the employees and the unions, as the union of the municipal services. In a separate but coherent topic, a salary qualification for the state and community services was achieved on December 4. The monthly table reference will also be increased by 3.5 percent from January 1, 2025, whereby the minimum increase is 100 euros and the maximum amount may not exceed 200 euros, such as press.vorarlberg.at reported.
financial requirements and inflation
The current agreement stipulates that salaries will be increased by the rolling inflation rate plus 0.3 percent from January 1, 2026, provided that this is not over 3 percent. Despite this regulation, there is great skepticism, since many employees and especially the doctors believe that these amounts are not sufficient to gain new specialists and keep existing employees. The negotiations were shaped by the effort to find a solution respectfully and goal -oriented, but the dissatisfaction with the salary adjustments seems to exist unabated, as vorarlberg.at reports.
