New market brings a breath of fresh air to debt: local supplies back!

The opening of the new Tante-M market in Schuld is the ray of hope that residents have been waiting for after the devastating flood in the Ahr Valley. More than three years after the closure of the old fresh market, which was destroyed by the waters of the Ahr in July 2021, citizens can finally look forward to fresh local supplies again. Mayor Helmut Lussi and market operator Daniel Werner are optimistic that the new market will be well received. As the Rhine newspaper reports, the new market has raised hopes for an improved quality of life in debt.

Strong cooperation for local supply

Parallel to the reopening of the Tante M market, the local supply cooperative NaveS has established itself as a significant player in South Tyrol. There are already 17 stores in operation that provide essential supplies to rural regions. Chairman Georg Mayr explains that the cooperative has over 1,400 members and was able to generate sales of 14 million euros in 2023. Sustainable cooperation with local farmers and the offer of regional products strengthen the local economy and secure jobs in structurally weaker areas. This reports sbb.it.

With the motto of maintaining local supplies in the villages, NaveS aims to consolidate the supply network in South Tyrol. By acquiring businesses that are at risk of being closed, they actively contribute to preventing supply shortages. This concerted effort, supported by various organizations, ensures that products from local producers such as milk and vegetables are also offered, which increases regional added value. Mayr emphasizes the importance of this strategy for rural communities and customer satisfaction.
