Bright children and exciting competitions at the Geislinger Volkslauf!

On Sunday morning Geislingen experienced a sporting spectacle that made the hearts of the spectators beat faster. While the fog was still floating over the city, the sun broke through the clouds and ensured perfect conditions for the foliage. The starting signal for the first school run of the U 8 was due to Bernhard Gaus, and the little athletes beamed. Fun and movement were in the foreground, while 60 children between the ages of 6 and 14 fought for certificates and gifts.

The proud parents and siblings cheered on their little running stars, while some of the kids later challenged the parents to master the longer distances of 10.5 and 5 kilometers. On this day, around 15 popular runs took place across the country, but Geislingen was happy about a large number of participants, even if the inclusion participants were somewhat lower due to other events such as "Reutlingen".

An anniversary full of success

The Geislinger half marathon celebrated its 20th anniversary this year and attracted 190 runners from the region and beyond. The organization was flawless and the weather played perfectly. All participants reached the goal without major injuries, which only increased the joy of the successful day. Thomas Teichmann, the head of athletics, praised the support of around 100 helpers in the half marathon and 50 at the foliage that made the event possible.

The award ceremony was another highlight of the day. At the 5 km distance, Helen Rendich won the women and Daniel Moor with the men. In the 10.5 km run, Marika Höhn took first place among women, while Moritz Wolf triumphed among the men. After the award ceremony we continued in the Schlossparkhalle, where the celebrations started.

Volleyball tournament inspires the masses

Not only the runners got their money's worth, the volleyball tournament for leisure teams was also a complete success. 12 teams fought for the winner's cup, while the spectators were supplied with delicious dishes and drinks by the lighti kitchen crew. In an exciting final, "The Block Winds" prevailed against "The Looney Tunes" and secured the tournament victory. TSV Geislingen took third place and rounded off a day full of sporting highlights.
