A failure that lasted six hours on Sunday was attributed to a monkey by Minister Kumara Jayakody who disturbed a substation in a suburb of Colombo. No power failures were carried out on Wednesday because this was a holiday in Sri Lanka.

The monkey had had contact with the transformer at the station, which impaired the power supply across the country. At first there was no information about whether the monkey survived the incident.
