Vienna starts bathing traffic: tips for the perfect visit to the outdoor pool!

Wien, Österreich - With the coming summer, Vienna opens the gates to their outdoor pools. Today, on May 16, 2025, the Viennese lines announced that some of the most popular bathing spaces in the city will be accessible again from May 17th. The facilities include idyllic swimming pools such as the Schönbrunnerbad and the goosebumps, which will attract numerous visitors on hot days. In order to make the outdoor pools even more pleasant, Vienna visitors can now also use the Wienmobil bike offer. With over 3,000 bicycles at more than 250 locations in all 23 districts, the system is a practical alternative to travel by car. Special innovations are the stations that were installed in the immediate vicinity of the outdoor pools: workers' beach, Alte Donau and New Danube. This initiative aims to make it easy to arrive and leave to the outdoor pools without the annoying parking problems. 

The new bike initiative is the result of a collaboration between "Nextbike Niederösterreich" and Wienmobil Rad. Since the introduction on April 1, over 55,000 trips with the new bikes have been recorded. Users can benefit from a deeper cooperation that enables them to use wheels of both systems to borrow and return.
