Thaliastraße NEW: Ottakring shines with trees and water features!

Thaliastraße, 1160 Wien, Österreich - The redesign of Thaliastraße in the 16th district of Vienna is progressing as planned. According to OTS , the redesign will be completed by the end of 2023. The traffic between Huttengasse and Montleartgasse will be released again in the near future so that buses can get their regular routes back.

The construction work on the forecourt of the Ottakring U3 station, in Paltaufgasse and in the adjacent side ends of the third section are expected to be completed by summer 2025. Thaliastraße has a total length of almost 3 kilometers, which extends from the belt to Montleartstraße.

A central goal of the redesign is to give Thaliastraße a chilled and pleasant place to live. The redesign of Thaliastraße takes place in three stages. The first section, which extends from the belt to Huttengasse, has already been completed and brought a cost of over 2 million euros. For this section, the planned costs were 10 million euros, in fact only 7.9 million euros were spent. 6.2 million euros in total costs were funded by EU and federal funds.

The second section, which is to be completed by the end of April 2025, extends from Feßgasse to Huttengasse. The third section, starting in August 2024 and June 2025, will transform the forecourt of the "Ottakring" U3 ending station into a new "main square of Ottakring". In addition, an improvement in traffic safety through road access and the possibility of having cyclists ride against the one -way in the side streets is planned.

The project was awarded a mobility price on September 9, 2021 and shows how important urban planning measures can be planned, taking into account the citizens: internal participation.
