Hang slip to L 291: Permanent backup starts in spring 2025!
Tübingen, Deutschland - After severe rains in June 2024, the L 291 between the B 30 junction Ravensburg-Nord and Berg experienced a dramatic slope slip. Larger masses of earth detached over a distance of about 50 meters and put both the state road and the accompanying walking and cycle path at risk. Immediate measures were taken: fallen trees and slipping earth mass have been removed so that the road could soon be released for traffic, as the regional council reported. The safety work on the slope by steel wire mesh that use up to six meters long piles began at the end of October 2024. This structural measure was supported by the necessary slope drainage.
unforeseen complications
But in early December 2024 there were further slides on the slope area, which led to an interruption of the security work. This additional challenge required further measures in order to also secure the new danger zones with steel wire braids. Fortunately, the work in the upper slope area is almost complete, and the walking and bike path can be released for traffic on Friday, December 20, 2024. Nevertheless, it is pointed out that the remaining work, including the final terrain modeling and the gravel protection on the slope foot, will probably be ongoing until spring 2025.
In addition, the bike path will have to be closed again during the final work. In this critical phase, it is important to observe the security standards that are defined in accordance with the rules in accordance with RSA 21 in order to avoid future slides and dangers in this area, as shown on the KMR traffic technology website.
