The focus is not only on seasonal fruit and vegetables, but also on a local butcher, which guarantees Austrian quality. Fresh bread is baked several times a day, which makes shopping for customers an experience.
But what makes Penny so special? As t-online.de recently gained the title as Germany's most popular owner and was in competition against greats Lidl and Aldi. Interestingly, prices only play a subordinate role. According to a survey by the German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ), 84 percent of those surveyed stated that the proximity to the branch was decisive for them, while only 25 percent mentioned the cheap prices as the main reason for their choice. The quality of the products landed in fifth place with only 14 percent.
