Vienna relies on green startups: The future of sustainability is now beginning!

On March 6, 2025, the final event of the startup program Re: Vienna took place in the Impact Hub Vienna, in which ten innovative founders presented their sustainable business ideas. This event, initiated by the Oekobusiness Vienna in cooperation with Impact Hub Vienna, has already demonstrated for the ninth time how much potential is in the Vienna startup scene. Climate Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky praised the creativity and commitment of the participants: "For a climate -neutral Vienna 2040, a sustainable economy is needed" and emphasized the importance of developing green concepts as part of the new Vienna Climate Act.

Sustainable ideas for the future

The selected startups from the RE: Vienna program show a wide range of creative wealth of ideas that aims at sustainable solutions. Projects range from environmentally friendly children's fashion that fought against Fast Fashion, to innovative building materials from Myzel to climate garden that support municipalities in adapting to climate change. "How far the inventiveness and creative solutions can go, the founders at Re: Vienna prove to us again every year," emphasized Czernohorszky and recognized the future -oriented potential of these approaches for the Viennese economy.

The program not only offers young entrepreneurs support from workshops and coaching, but also access to a valuable network of former participants. Darya Makshyna, program manager at the Impact Hub Vienna, stated: "The program is well received by founders and supports the Oekobusiness Wien Netz. With this Initiative, Vienna not only underlines its pioneering role in promoting climate protection, but also the importance of innovative economic strategies in order to improve the city climate sustainably.
