Wiener Rathausplatz, 1010 Wien, Österreich - The festival of regional delights, Waldviertel, takes place from May 21 to 23, 2025 on Vienna Rathausplatz. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of this popular event, an extensive program is offered, which consists of both culinary and cultural highlights. The opening is carried out by the governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, who will give the celebrations a solemn setting. In the past two decades, Waldviertel has developed from a small event to a crowd favorite.

Originally, the festival was launched in 2004 and has changed and enlarged since then over the years. Over the years it has already taken place in various places such as "Am Hof" and Heldenplatz before it is now celebrated on Rathausplatz. Part of the event are over a hundred exhibitors who present a variety of regional products, excursion and vacation tips.

The Waldviertelpur program includes numerous activities that are supposed to attract both locals and visitors. In addition to culinary delights, visitors also expect exciting craftsmanship and cultural performances. Live demonstrations are planned in various crafts such as wood carving and basket braids. Musically, the event will be shaped by traditional sounds, including brass music, shoe plattler and appearances by folk song groups and rock bands. A special highlight is the costume fashion show by Elfi Maisetschläger, which presents the diversity of regional traditional costume art.

Pure enjoyment for all senses

The culinary offers are just as diverse. Visitors can look forward to traditional specialties such as potato dumplings, organic carp and poppy seeds. Regional beers from Zwettl and Schrems as well as exquisite wines from the Kamptal complete the offer. In the "live kitchen", cooks and producers show how traditional dishes are prepared.

For all participants there is also a competition where vacation in the Waldviertel is raffled off, another highlight that strengthens the regional connection. The proximity to Vienna and the natural holiday experiences make the event attractive for many and invite Waldviertel fans as well as new interested parties.
