Linz mourns: Star children commemorative in the Mariendom touches heart!
Last weekend the ecumenical star child commemoration took place in the Linz Mariendom, in which numerous people took part to commemorate their lost children. In a moving ambience, countless candles illuminated the church room and symbolized the memories of the star children - those who died before, during or shortly after birth. Bishop Manfred Scheuer and superintendent Gerold Lehner underlined the importance of mourning and the power of the community in difficult times. Scheuer spoke of the "silent power of love" and emphasized that late children find a lasting home with God. The event offered a valuable opportunity to share these painful memories and consolation in the community, as it kathpress.at reported. In the middle of this emotional celebrations, Linz is also shaped by a remarkable baby boom. In 2018, 2,238 children were born in Linz, which is the highest birth number since 1971. The Linz registry office registered a total of 5,610 births last year. Despite the increase in the number of births, however, more people died slightly in the same period than was born. Mayor Klaus Luger was pleased to talk about the positive development of the birth rate and the continuing influx to the city. The Med Campus IV, the former state women's clinic, was the main location of these births, which illustrates the special role of the Linz hospitals in the region, such as allellinz.at reported.
