Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - Last night, on December 5, 2024, an exclusive artist took place in the MAK, which continues the tradition of artists in the MAK. Around 200 prominent guests from the art, cultural and economic landscape came together to celebrate this special event. Lilli Hollein, General Director of Mak, and Martin Böhm, President of MAK Art Society, invited those present to take a first insight into the upcoming exhibition "Peche Pop", who appreciates the work of the visionary designer Dagobert Peche. This extraordinary design evening aimed to generate funds for the art purchase that will benefit the museum, such as ots.at reported.
creative highlights
peche, known as the "ornament genius", shaped the Vienna workshop with its artistic designs, which also came into its own in the table design of the dinner. Artistic dishes by Gmundner Keramik and a special dishes designed by Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood were part of the experience. A highlight of the evening was a paper flower arrangement of the paper flower arts Gustav Axel Broström, which was modeled on the style of Dagobert Peches. The dinner was musically framed by Philipp Quehenberger on the piano.
Another remarkable aspect of this evening is the upcoming big auction at Christie’s, where a monumental, glazed earthware vase, designed by Dagobert Peche for the Schleiss family, is for sale. This vase, which is about 140 cm high and is part of the heritage of the Vienna Workshop, was created especially for the owner of the United Viennese and Gmundner Ceramic. Such unique pieces are not only for bad luck, exceptional creative contribution, but also show the close connection between his work and the leading ceramics of his time. The sale of this vase emphasizes the significant role that Dagobert Peche plays in art history, as Christie’s noted.
