Donut as art? Viennese artists celebrate creative carnival ends!
Ceremonial mood in the Bank Austria Kunstforum Vienna: On the occasion of the finissage of the outstanding art campaign of the collective Backsy, a glamorous event took place on Mardi Gras, which was organized by the traditional Viennese bakery Ströck. In this unique ambience, the spectacular works of art for the WE & ME Foundation were auctioned and achieved impressive income of over 14,000 euros. The event combined art and culinary delays by raising the question of whether donuts are more than just treats - are they art?
The five -member artist collective Backsy, which includes Boicut and Mrs. Isa, dealt intensively with the role of Essen in art history. In the past, numerous still lifes were devoted to the subject of culinary arts. With creative wall designs and artistic installations, subway stations and house walls were artfully staged in the city. The survey carried out as part of the project showed that astonishing 94.5 percent of those surveyed believe that donuts should be recognized as art, as reported on backsy.at. An impressive statement for enjoyment!
artistic donuts and social commitment
The finissage not only offered a platform for art, but also set a sign of social responsibility. Under the moderation of the auctioneer Michael Kovacek, the works were auctioned for a good cause. On this occasion, the artist Martin Tardy even created a unique work of art on site that immediately came under the hammer. The WE & ME Foundation, which is committed to research and treatment of ME/CFS, benefits from these special actions. This disease affects up to 80,000 people in Austria and has devastating effects on their lives.
The event attracted numerous celebrities and art lovers who enjoyed both the works of art and the delicious donuts by Ströck in the stylish atmosphere of the finissage. "With our projects, we not only want to celebrate the donuts as a work of art, but also show that culinary and art can go hand in hand," explained Gerhard Ströck. With a harmonious link between delight and creativity, it was once again demonstrated that not only the tradition, but also contemporary art, is lived in Vienna, as the vice director of the Bank Austria Art Forum, Evelyn Bensch, emphasized.
The successful art campaigns and the associated social initiatives are characterized by the Viennese art scene with a unique, enjoyable character that inspires both art and culinary lovers.
