Memory of Auschwitz: Literature as a means of survival in the concentration camp!

Wiesbaden, Deutschland - On January 7, 2025, a central memorial event will take place at the Wiesbaden City Archives under the title "Writing as resistance". This event addresses the literature from ghettos and concentration camps and marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp through the Red Army. During the liberation, the soldiers found emanated people who had had terrible experiences.

guest speaker of the event will be Professor Sascha Feuchert. In his lecture, he will explain the crucial role of writing and reading in these extreme living conditions. Text production in the concentration camps and ghettos had several functions, including stimulating testimony, processing the trauma and ego stabilization experienced. Professor Feuchert will put the works and voices of the victims at the center of his lecture and take into account both well -known and fewer prominent authors.
