The audience inspires emotional New Year's concert in Karken!

On January 5, 2025, the audience in the Oberbrucher Festhalle experienced an exciting New Year's concert, organized by the Instrumental Association Karken (IVK) in cooperation with the Harmonie Concordia Melick. Under the musical direction of Xavier Kuijpers, moderated by Marion Frenken, the musicians delighted with a varied program.

The event started with the concert march "Grammatique" by Gerardus Hendrik Boedijn and continued with the "Suite from Hymn of the Highlands" by Philip Sparke. A highlight of the evening was the Dutch mezzo-soprano Jenske Wijshoff, who presented known pieces to the audience, including the Vilja song from "The Lusty Widow" by Franz Lehár and the emotional "I Shall Love But Tee", which is especially was written.

The first half of the concert ended with the instrumental piece "Innuendo" by Marco Somadossi, which is based on a song by the band Queen, followed by "Tango for a Toreador" by Hermann Christoffel Snijders. After a short break, the Harmonie Concordia continued its concert with "The Last Spring" by Edvard Grieg under the direction of Pierre Cnoops. The performance also included the legend No. 4 by Antonín Dvořák (editing by Pavel Stanek), "Funiculi Funicula Rhapsody" by Yo Goto, "Polka Italne" by Sergei Rachmaninoff (arrangement by Stefan Schwalgin) and "Portraits of Spain" by TEO SPARICIO Barberán. Leonie Wolters, solo flutist in the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, impressed the audience with "Sketches for Flute" by André Waignein.
