GDR Christmas cult: The secrets behind between breakfast and roast goose!
Roth, Deutschland - The iconic Christmas show "Between breakfast and roast goose" is celebrating another comeback on the first Christmas day to bring families in East Germany to a festive mood this year. As mdr , there will be a program with the most beautiful and memorable moments from 34 years of tradition. The show, which has been broadcast since 1957, developed to an indispensable part of Christmas in the GDR and started every month between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Under the moderation of the legendary duo Heinz Quermann and Margot Ebert, the audience awaits a colorful mix of music, dance and bizarre rituals.
The show not only has cult status in eastern Germany, but was also a symbol of Christmas connection. Numerous stars, including Costa Cordalis and Karel Gott, frolicked in this colorful celebration. But not only that shimmers through the festive facade: as Berliner Kurier were also a transverse man and Ebert were also a seemingly harmonious couple, but Schein is deceptive. There were tensions, and the two are said to have often clashed, which even led to an exchange of public tuning. Despite their differences, however, they protected the facade of perfect moderation over the years.
This year the MDR shows the best from the show from 9.40 a.m., while the RBB broadcasts an original edition of 1989, in which the Germans first accumulated in the smaller circles after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Another aspect that emphasizes the nostalgia of this popular tradition and brings the exceptional memories closer to the audience in a successful mix of entertainment and sentimentality.
