Artificial intelligence saves life: fall system in the Weyhe retirement home!
In a retirement home in Sudweyhe, a groundbreaking technology is tested that could make the life of the residents safer! A system for creation, supported by artificial intelligence, has proven to be extremely effective since its introduction in April. The devices that were installed in 28 rooms recognize falls and alert the nursing staff immediately. Lore Kunckel, the head of the home, reports that the system has made an alarm between 20 and 30 times, which underlines the need for such technologies.
Innovative technology works without endangering the privacy of the residents. The sensors that are attached under the ceiling do not record pictures or videos. Instead, the system processes anonymized data so that neither nursing staff nor the manufacturer get an insight into the records. "It is important that we maintain the privacy of the clients," emphasizes Kunckel. In the event of a fall, the nursing staff rings and a computer voice gives the room number - help can quickly be provided.
a system with a future
The sensitivity of the fall detection can be adjusted, which means that the system could also react to other situations, such as leaving the room. This could be particularly advantageous for dementia -suffering residents. The Specht Group plans to equip the entire retirement home with this technology, which will cost a total of 78,000 euros-an investment that is not passed on to rents. According to Amir Humanfar, the Hum Systems marketing boss, the staff felt the system as valuable support, which is reflected in a high satisfaction of 9.22 on a scale of 1 to 10.
The manor in Sudweyhe could therefore be considered a pioneer for the use of AI in nursing. Lore Kunckel is convinced that this technology significantly improves the response times in an emergency and thus increases the well -being of the residents. However, a small wish remains: the cable channels should be laid more inconspicuous in the future. The future of care could have already started here in Sudweyhe!
