Viennese children learn the leap into the adventure while ski jumping!

The first taster four-hill tour for children between six and nine years took place in Vienna recently. The event was organized by the Vienna City Tadlers and attracted numerous young sports fans. With a smile, Andreas Goldberger, triple overall World Cup winner and initiator of the Goldi Talent Cup, encouraged the children to venture into the small mobile ski jump. Goldberger, who has already promoted many talents such as the current tour winner Daniel Tschofenig, emphasized the importance of inspiring children early on for ski jumping in order to keep the sport alive, as ORF.AT reported.

an appeal for a ski jump in Vienna

During his time with the children in the museum district, Goldberger spoke about the need for a firm ski jump in Vienna. The experienced athlete said that a 15- or 30-meter hill is sufficient for young athletes and emphasized the positive influence of such an infrastructure on young talent work. "A ski jump in Vienna would also offer the opportunity to make more children ski jumping," he said optimistically. According to Goldberger, such a ski jump could also make the training times more efficient, since long trips would be omitted, which would be a considerable relief for children and their families.

fears about the international ski jump

Despite the positive developments in the promotion of young talent, Goldberger also expressed concerns. He fears that the dominance of the Austrian ski jumping team could reduce international interest in the discipline. "I am always a little afraid that international interest will be lower when a nation dominates everything," said Goldberger. This statement fell in an interview with Laola1, in which he explained that diversity is important in sport to secure its future.

The event attracts great attention, since more and more children take part in the Goldi Talent Cup and the interest in ski jumping in Austria is increasing, as a result of the success of the domestic athletes on the four-hill tour. It remains to be seen how this positive development will affect the future of ski jumping, both locally and internationally.
