Mothers in competitive sports: Laura Ludwig demands more support!

The Rio Olympic champion Laura Ludwig raises the alarm! Mothers in competitive Sports are neglected! In a startled interview with Sports Illustrated, the former beach volleyball player demands more support for moms who return after pregnancy. "Unfortunately, mums are forgotten in the end," complains Ludwig, emphasizing that every player comes back athletically and mentally after her pregnancy. Maternity matures women and has a positive effect on their sporting performance!

But reality looks different! Ludwig, a mother of two himself, realizes that there is still an attitude that mothers have to prove themselves again after their comeback. "They would have to be supported unconditionally," she says urgently. Her own return experiences were characterized by challenges she mastered with flying colors, inspired by role models such as the American beach volleyball player Kerri Walsh. "That made it easier for me," admits Ludwig.

emotional roller coaster and logistical hurdles

But the return was not without difficulty! Ludwig reports of emotional emotional outbreaks that she experienced after the birth of her first child. "This goddess love for my own child was new to me," she explains. Her second comeback was better prepared, but presented her with logistical challenges: "Tonty two children and sport is much more demanding."

in September Ludwig ended her active career and reflects: "Sport gave me a lot, but I no longer wanted to train every day." With the start of school of her older son, the logistical challenge becomes even greater. Now she enjoys the valuable time with her children and is committed to more support for mothers in sports!
