Carinthian championships: strong runners set new records!

On May 22, 2025, the Carinthian championships over 10,000 meters in the general classes and over 3,000 meters for the U16 and U18 took place in the Leopold-Wagner-Arena. The event was organized by the Carinthian Athletics Club (KLC), who supported the athletes with great enthusiasm. The championships not only offered exciting competitions, but also remarkable achievements of the participants.

Marlen Staudacher from LAC Klagenfurt won the championship title for women over 10,000 meters in a personal best of 42: 25.64 minutes. Markus Poll (LPSV-K) won the men in 43: 47.34 minutes, whereby the faster time of women was remarkable. This shows the consistently high performance of the athletes compared to their male colleagues.

successes in the U16 and U18

The U18 championship titles over 3,000 meters went to Sebastian Kofler and Alissa Liebhard, both from LC Villach. In the U16, Matteo Xaver Jost (SC Hermagor) impressed with a time of 9: 45.99 minutes, making him the top of the Austrian best list. Valerie Di Bernardo (Tri Team Klagenfurt) prevailed in the girls and secured first place.

The competition for the championship titles was not the only highlight. Maja Kropiunik (KLC), who won both over 100 m and 200 m, shone in the supporting program. Markus Kaiser also showed a strong performance in the javelin throw with a width of 55.14 meters. In addition, three new Carinthian Masters records were set up, including a record by Oliver Münzer (LC Villach) over 200 m in the M55 class with a time of 25.26 seconds.

The Carinthian Athletics Association (KLV) plays a central role in promoting athletics in Carinthia. According to the KLV website, the association is committed to the interests of the athletics associations, supports athletes, trainers and officials and promotes public recognition in sport. The KLV's commitment aims to create a fair, respectful and promoting atmosphere within athletics.
