At the same time, a dark episode of history is reminded: In a mass grave in the Jewish cemetery of St. Pölten, the remains of 228 Hungarian-Jewish forced laborers, which were murdered on May 2, 1945 in Hofamt Priel. These men, women and children were shot by SS men on the night. However, the perpetrators could never be determined or punished. In 1964, the remains were embedded into the mass grave in the Jewish cemetery, where a simple memorial stone keeps the memory of the dead. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the massacre, the memorial received a stone with the names of the victims in 2015.
