Villinger Advent calendar: New stories to listen every day!

In the heart of Villingen-Schwenningen, the students of the St. Ursula schools caused a sensation with an innovative advent calendar: instead of traditional chocolate door, there is a new podcast every day. Principer Stefanie Kelly, who has been in office since 2022, had the brilliant idea for this special calendar. It is supported by teachers and students alike, including Thomas Handschuhmacher and Matthias Eschbach. This concept not only inspires the children, but also promotes their skills in creative writing and in media production, such as reports.

The St. Ursula schools rely on other creative projects that make learning in school exciting. As part of the “Zeitung” project, students in grades 6 to 9 interviewed the outgoing headmaster Johannes Kaiser about his private life and the plans for his retirement. They also work in groups on podcasts that illuminate current topics such as cannabis and climate activism. One of these projects shows how important it is to confront young people with significant content, as explain the official school website

In addition, the story letter is reinterpreted: students mix different stories about their own "shaking stories" and experience how exciting new stories arise from their favorite books. This promotes both your reading skills and creativity. The commitment of the student body in these projects shows that modern educational approaches make up an important part of school education.
