St. Florian, Österreich - An innovative initiative to combat climate change recently took on the HLBLA St. Florian shape. There, pupils accepted the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture to develop a "climate charta", which focuses on sustainability in the higher agricultural school. On the occasion of the upcoming international climate conference COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the school organized its first climate conference. The aim was to raise awareness of environmentally friendly measures and to present specific projects to the students, such as the introduction of carpools and the provision of rental bikes. At the climate conference, the participants were prepared for the international climate peaks through the presentation of the film "Guardians of the Earth", which look behind the scenes of the Paris conference. A highlight of the event was the live circuit for the EU pavilion of the conference in Baku. There, the delegates of agricultural schools, Laura Renner and Eva Saudan, reported on their experiences and the difficulties with which political decision -makers are faced with the financing of climate protection measures in poorer countries.

In parallel to the climate conference, there is also a climate conference simulation that puts students in the role of business representatives, political delegates and climate activists. The aim is to achieve the internationally decided 2-degree goal despite different interests and to convey the importance of their role in future social challenges to the students.
