Bomb threats in St. Pölten: close schools, students in safety!

in St. Pölten caused a great excitement against several schools. As the news portal 5min.at reported, the threats about emails have spread, which led to the immediate closure of all elementary schools, middle schools and the St. Georgen special school on Tuesday, December 17th and on Wednesday. The lessons will be relocated to the distance learning at short notice to protect the students.

Significant security measures taken

The educational directorate immediately informed parents and teachers about the measures taken by email. While the responsibilities speak of "abstract threats", the investigation is in full swing. The St. Pölten Criminal Service as well as the State Criminal Police Office and the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Terrorism are involved in the extensive investigations. As reported by ORF, the schools concerned are thoroughly searched in the course of the morning in order to clarify the background of the threats and exclude possible risks.

To support parents who cannot look after their children themselves in the difficult situation, emergency care was set up in every school. Parents can contact a contact point on site to organize temporary care for their children. For security reasons, however, the exact location of the care remains unnamed.
