Elon Musk plans underground worm hole system for Dubai!
A new chapter in urban mobility is opened in Dubai! Elon Musk announced on the World Government's Summit that his company The Boring Company will plan a spectacular underground tunnel network for the city of the city. The vision: an underground transport system that works like a "wormhole" in which the citizens can dash from one point of the city to another. This is presented in response to the steadily growing population of around 3.6 million people and the associated chronic traffic jams in Dubai. According to Musk, the project is realized in cooperation with the local authorities, accompanied by the Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Omar Alama, who emphasized that the system should in particular connect heavily frequented districts to enable effective travel.
The plans for the Dubai Loop system
The planned tunnel network is referred to as "Dubai Loop" and initially includes a 17 -kilometer pilot project with 11 stations, which is to transport over 20,000 passengers per hour. This was reported by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) from Dubai, in close consultation with The Boring Company. This initiative is not only an answer to the traffic problem, but also a step towards sustainability. By using electrical vehicles, the project will take into account the ambitious goals of the city with regard to sustainable development and with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 Cover.
The Las Vegas Loop, a similar concept, has already proven that such tunnel projects can be successfully implemented. Since 2021, the system has transported over two million passengers and plans to expand its capacity to over 90,000 passengers per hour. With the introduction of the Dubai Loop, this technology could also serve as a model in other major cities that suffer from similar traffic problems, and there is the possibility that Dubai is thus establishing itself as a global center for innovative traffic solutions.
