This extraordinary crib, which has been there for 262 years, measures a proud 14.5 meters and shows a variety of figures and buildings, some of which are carefully carved and dressed in elaborate costumes. According to , it was particularly important in the restoration to clear the original color and version of the city walls and buildings, which now shines in a new, lively shine. Experts invested around 5,000 working hours to preserve the cultural heritage and to maintain them for posterity.
This impressive crib, which was created in 1762, is one of the greatest Christmas cribs in Styria with its 29 different scenes. Even before her restoration, it was in a regrettable condition, the mountain range showed serious mechanical damage, while piping and overpainting had to be restored, such as Thümmel reported. A special nativity master will ensure that the scenery is redesigned almost daily during the Advent season, which lasts until February 2.
