Heinz Goll: A tribute to the visionary artist in Klagenfurt
In an impressive honor for the late artist Heinz Goll, the cultural department of the city of Klagenfurt opens up a special exhibition in the town house. The show entitled "In the Traces of Heinz Goll" was opened by City Councilor Franz Petritz in front of numerous guests on Tuesday evening. Goll, who died in 1999 at the age of 64, would have turned 90 this year. The exhibition shows selected works, including the well-known "Wörthersee-Mandl", a bronze sculpture that in the fountain on the Dr. Arthur-Lemisch-Platz can be found. Some of his further bronze work adorn church locations in Klagenfurt. As meinzirk.at reports , the exhibition also stands for a digital journey through Golls residential building in Colombia, where he lived and worked for numerous years.
Heinz Goll, originally from Klagenfurt, was born in 1934 and is considered an unconventional figure of the Austrian art scene of the 1960s. After several stays in South America, he settled near Bogotá in 1979. There he found his later wife, psychologist Piedad Tamayo-Goll. His artistic influences encompassed Precolumbian symbols and indigenous art, which is visible in many of his works. In the exhibition, such as wikipedia notes , also presented digital stations and video statements by his companions. These documentation make life and philosophy of the artist tangible and invite visitors to understand their creative journey.
