Gautinger Tower Blower concert: Tradition lives even without founder Döring!
Gauting, Deutschland - In Gauting, the traditional tower wind concert on Christmas Eve is again on the program this year. At 10:15 p.m. it will sound from the town hall balcony, and the lights of the lanterns are reminiscent of Christian Döring, the founder of this festive tradition, which died last April. The trombonist Johanna Lang and the tubist Christoph Möhle will open the musical journey with the song "Heil’ge Nacht, I greet you", which was Döring's "heart child". This event goes back to the 1970s, as Döring, at that time from Kempen on the Lower Rhine, the tradition brought into life and thus brought together generations of Oktoberfest and Christmas friends, like Merkur reported.
The musical performance will include a variety of Christmas carols from different countries, including sounds from Germany, England, Norway, Italy and even Ukraine. In addition to the festive sounds, there will also be a convivial framework in which mulled wine is offered, so that the concert is not only an acoustic but also a social highlight. Trumpeter Benedikt Rüchardt emphasizes that the concert is "a social event", in which people from different generations come together to enjoy the contemplative atmosphere. After a collection of contemplative melodies, the concert will traditionally end with "Silent Night, Holy Night". Also Weeklyanzeiger places the meaning and festive character of this event in the Center.
