Trump in the crossfire: Mass layouts at federal authorities stopped!
In a surprising decision, a federal judge in San Francisco temporarily stopped the mass layoffs that had once been planned by several federal authorities. As the "Washington Post" reports, the judge instructed the personnel authority to withdraw its guidelines that put tens of thousands of employees at risk. The judge argued that the congress granted the federal authorities the right to hire and dismiss employees, whereby the Pentagon was in particular mentioned as an example. This decision is shaking the current conversions in the federal authorities and concerns one of the massive employment restructuring that has been promoted since Donald Trump has been taking office in January, supported by tech billionaire Elon Musk and his initiative for state efficiency.
In response to the massive layoffs and the required arrangements, around 40 complaints have already been submitted. The plaintiffs, including unions, argue that the personnel authority has no constitutional authority to demonstrate other federal authorities, which leads to the current legal discussion. However, Trump and his government are planning to ultimately gain the existing legal disputes before the conservatively occupied Supreme Court, where there is the possibility to bring about a decisive turn in these processes.
