Tailor at UPM: 5.9% salary increase for 46,000 employees!

Christian Wegele, the works Council chairman at UPM in Schongau, has expressed his satisfaction with the recent tariff degree in the paper -producing industry. According to a report by Merkur , this tariff will comprise a salary increase until December 31, 2026. emphasized that this conclusion reflects the current economic and political challenges. His statements illustrate that the salary increase is above the degrees in the metal and electrical industry.

Along with the negotiations, Wegele stated that the salary increase was possible through the commitment of the employees. However, he also referred to concerns about a possible opening clause for economically stricken companies. There were no strike measures at UPM during this negotiating round, although the employees were prepared for it. Before the third tariff round, 70 rallies were held nationwide, in which around 10,000 employees took part.

collective bargaining and allegations

The tariff conclusion, which applies to around 46,000 employees in the paper -producing industry, was achieved after intensive negotiations that began at the end of November and were sealed shortly before midnight on Friday. According to Radio Oberland , however, there is still no agreement on the Federal Functional Treaty (BETV). Astrid Meier from the IG BCE trade union regretted the lack of an agreement and plans to continue negotiations in the new year.

In November, UPM was accused by the IG BCE union of having committed a collective bargaining break, which was rejected by plant manager Wolfgang Ohnesorg. The point of dispute relates to the "Federal Funeral Failure Carnice", which should have been implemented since September 1st. Ohnesorg was surprised by the allegations and explained that the implementation was on a few open points that are to be clarified on November 25th. Changes could be claimed retrospectively, which according to him is not unusual.
