Hape Kerkeling: a life in the spotlight and the forced souting!

Radio Bremen, Deutschland - An exciting look at Hape Kerkeling's life awaits the audience with the new ARD documentary "Total Normal", which is broadcast on the occasion of its 60th birthday. Prominent companions such as Anke Engelke, Otto, Campino, Günther Jauch and Isabel Varell comment on the moving scenes and bring in their personal anecdotes. But the highlight of the documentary is the voice of Birgit Reckmeyer, Kerkeling's former editor at Radio Bremen, who is an original with her distinctive style itself. Kerkeling parodies several times in the documentary and apologizes - a real thigh tapper!

a forced souting that changed everything

Another exciting moment in the documentary is the admission of the filmmaker Rosa von Praunheim, who outerated Kerkeling in 1991 in the talk show "The Hot Stool" without warning as a gay. "I knew that my action was indecent that it was a stone that I thrown, which hurts too," admits from Praunheim. He explains that he was concerned with demanding solidarity in the AIDS crisis. Kerkeling reflects on this forced souting and in retrospect it describes it as a stroke of luck, since it took the hiding game with fear.

The document also offers critical voices, such as that of Horst Schlämmer, who comments negatively about Kerkeling: "It considers himself better. Unless - I find it unappealing." Despite this negative remark, the documentary remains a fascinating portrait of one of the most famous faces of German entertainment.
