World class organ art: Daniel Roth plays Bach & Co. in Landau!

A special musical event is imminent: On Sunday, October 6th, the renowned organist Daniel Roth will give a concert at 5:00 p.m. Bach, C. Franck, C. Saint-Saëns, Ch. M. Widor and D. Roth. Daniel Roth is not only an internationally recognized organist, but also an outstanding figure in the world of classical music. He started his career early, debut at the Sacré Coeur basilica in Paris at the age of 20 and later became a titular organist there. Already in 1985 he succeeded significant organists at the Saint-Sulpice church, where he was seen in this prestigious role until the turn of the millennium.

Roth's musical education is as impressive as his professional career. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris and received five first prizes in various disciplines, including harmony, counterpoint, joint, piano and of course organ. His achievements were also recognized in competitions, such as the renowned Grand Prix de Chartres, which he won in 1971 in literature and improvisation.

For many, he is a welcome festival and concert organist and regularly appears as a soloist with large orchestras. He also demonstrated his skills as a jury member in international competitions. Through numerous radio and television recordings, Roth was able to consolidate his outstanding position as an organist and inspire a broad audience.

His art is not only valued in the audiophile community, but also in academic circles. Roth taught at various universities and conservators in France and Germany and inspired many students. From 1995 to 2007 he was a professor of organ at the Frankfurt am Main University of Music, where he continued the tradition of greats like Helmut Walcha.

The artistic work of Daniel Roth does not remain unnoticed. As a composer, he was awarded the respected Florent Schmitt Prize of the Académie of the Beaux Art. His merits have been recognized many times; Among other things, he received the title Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur and the Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des lettre. He was also appointed Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Organts and won the Prize for European Church Music in Schwäbisch-Gmünd in 2006.
