In Istanbul, the SAHA EXPO has become the focal point for the global defense community, and this year, Ukrainian defense companies made a bold statement with two impressive exhibition stands! This event stands tall as one of the largest international defense exhibitions, attracting eyes from around the world.
The National Association of Defense Industry Enterprises of Ukraine (NAUDI) showcased cutting-edge products from prominent Ukrainian firms like Ukrainian Armored Vehicles, Kvertus, and more! Representatives from NAUDI emphasized the crucial role of participating in such exhibitions, stating, “Our participation serves two missions: to demonstrate Ukraine's presence and to forge new contacts.” Currently, exports are not on the table, but hope is alive that once victory is achieved, demand will spike for Ukrainian innovations, reinforcing the industry's resilience in the face of adversity.
Ukrainian Prowess on Display
What sets Ukrainian defense companies apart? Their products are battlefield-tested! “All Association companies receive feedback from the military and refine their products according to real needs,” shared NAUDI representatives, underscoring the adaptive nature of their innovations. The joint exhibition from the Aerospace Association highlighted the renowned quality of Ukrainian aviation engines, which are rapidly gaining a reputation not only in Turkey but globally. An enthusiastic visitor pointed out, “These engines represent quality and reliability, acclaimed through our ongoing projects.”
During the SAHA EXPO, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made headlines by announcing contracts totaling a staggering USD 6.2 billion, which includes a significant chunk with Ukrainian firms! His bold statements reflect Turkey’s burgeoning defense industry, growing from a mere USD 248 million in exports two decades ago to breaking records today. Notably, the first day saw Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha of Ukraine engaging with top Turkish officials and defense leaders, solidifying important ties amidst an impressive turnout of over 1,200 companies from more than 120 countries!
