A big loss for football! Marcel Dantheny, the former goalkeeper of the legendary Stade de Reims, died at the age of 88. The sad news was published on October 29 by the Red Star, for whom he also played. Dantheny was a formative figure in the glorious time of the club and leaves a lasting memory.
The Esly (Seine-ET-Marne) was from 1955 to 1957 and then again in the 1961-62 season with the professionals of the Stade de Reims. Although he only played two games for the Reimser, he left a lasting impression in football history. In 1955 he became the first French goalkeeper to stand in a European Cup game - and that against the Danes of Aarhus who were defeated 2-0!
