Speyer celebrates 120 years of memory church: new calendar with a wow effect!

Autumn not only brings colorful leaves, but also new calendars on the market. Particularly noteworthy are two Speyer calendars for 2025, which not only entertain, but also meet a meaningful purpose. With the purchase of one of these calendars you can even do something good for the community.

"This is a special birthday present for the 120th", Speyer's Protestant Dean Arne Dembek said. Here he refers to a calendar that shows impressive photographs of the Memorial Church, just in time for the 120th anniversary of the inauguration of this church. The pictures come from the renowned photographer Peter Wilking, who captured both well -known and hidden perspectives of the largest Evangelical church in the Palatinate. From the colorful church windows to the splendidly illuminated interior and a view from the roof to the 100 -meter -high tower - Wilking has set itself the task of capturing Speyer's landmark in unique pictures.

The contribution to the preservation of the Memorial Church

"It is great to see how the memory church was put into the picture," added Dembek, who is not only Dean, but also chairman of the church building association. 5 euros flow from every calendar sold that is available on the website of the building association. These funds are intended for the maintenance of the neo -Gothic church. The price for the calendar is 25 euros, members of the building association receive it for 20 euros.

The anniversary of the 1904 Memorial Church, however, is not celebrated. Dembek emphasizes that the major celebrations are postponed to 2029 if the 500th anniversary of the Protestation and the 125th birthday of the church are to be celebrated. The history of the church building is impressive: the Bauverein joined the public with a call for donations in 1857, and the architectural competition was completed in 1884.

Another calendar designed by the Speyer photographer Wilking also shows his work and is published by the ART2 Kuntraum agency. This second calendar presents twelve new, portrait photographs by Speyer and is available from Osiander and in the web shop art2-kunstraum.de. The prices vary between 15 and 40 euros depending on the size. Wilking said: "Each picture is also available individually in every format."
