Lower Bavaria celebrates athletes of the year: Fromberger and Stockinger in the spotlight!

In the festive ambience of the Joska glass paradise, the coveted event to honor the best athletes in Lower Bavaria recently took place. This traditional gala, organized by BLSV Niederbayern, offered the perfect framework to appreciate the outstanding achievements in sport. BLSV district chairman Otto Baumann opened the evening with a warm welcome and expressed his thanks to the numerous sponsors and helpers who contributed to this successful event.

Special honor was given to many athletes, including the mountain bike top driver Marion Fromberger and the ski alpine professional Jonas Stockinger, both of whom were the focus of the award. In addition to these sizes, local guests of honor such as district councilor Renate Wasmeier and BLSV President Jörg Ammon also found their place in the event. Moderator Tobias Wittenzellner skilfully led through the evening, which was enriched by a varied supporting program, including dance performances and cabaret.

The athletes of the year

This year there was a remarkable increase in voting by 15 percent, which indicates a growing interest in the performance of the athletes. The choice of athlete in 2023 was highly contested. The nominations ranged from Raffaela Igl in judo to Luisa Lang in ice swimming to Marion Fromberger in the mountain bike. The former mountain bike world champion Mona Kraus presented the trophy to the radiant winner Fromberger, who is not only German champion, but also fourth in the World Cup and World Cup winner in Sakarya.

A strong trio was also nominated with the male athletes with Jonas Stockinger, Martin Nörl and Kevin Abeltshauser. Sepp Maurer, godfather of the athlete of the year, praised the young talents of the region and handed over the trophy to Stockinger, who shines as a German champion in the giant slalom and European Cup winner.

team of the year and honorary prices

The team of the year was also an exciting topic. The U17 of the EV Landshut, which had to cancel due to health problems, were available for election, the IHC Atting in the Inline Hockey and TSV Niederviehbach in stick shooting. With an impressive performance, the stick shooters prevailed as the winner. The former judo Olympic champion Ole Bishop presented the trophy to the team from Niederviehbach, which has received multiple awards in his age group and acts as a world champion and European champion.

The event was not only characterized by the honor of individual athletes and teams, but also by the award of meritorious voluntary work. BLSV President Jörg Ammon emphasized how important the cooperation between top sport and volunteer work is. Prices for special achievements in volunteering were awarded to Christine Leyrer and Christian Riedl for the Landshut sports district. Among other things, the 90-year-old Georg Reischl for the sports district of Deggendorf as well as Anton Neudorfer and Franz Stockbauer for the Sportkreis Passau have received further awards.

This celebration of the Lower Bavarian sports community clearly shows how powerful and committed the athletes and volunteers in the region are. The continuous support of sponsors and the local community is the foundation for the successes that should continue to be celebrated in the future. for more Information, see the current reporting on www.pnp.de .
