Former football star Günter Rahm celebrates 90th birthday in Peiting

Günter Rahm, a name that is still well known to older football fans, recently celebrated his 90th birthday in Peiting. The former B national player of the GDR and players of TSV 1860 Munich brought numerous memories of his active time when he was surrounded by Mayor Peter Eastrieder and his family. The celebration brought many personal and emotional moments, crowned by delicious cakes that were prepared by his daughter and granddaughter.

The surprise was perfect when the mayor arrived to honor the milestone birthday. In the conversations it became clear that Rahm has an impressive life story not only as a footballer, but also as a person. "It is hard to believe that I regularly get autograph requests from young fans," says Rahm, who is now 90 years old and ended 60 years ago.

The eventful journey of a footballer

Rahm's path of life is characterized by adversities and successes. Growing up as a war refugee, he was able to develop his passion for football despite difficult circumstances. He grew up in Silesia and often kicked barefoot with his five brothers. His talent showed up early when he trained in the older youth of Motor Jena at the age of 14 and rose to the first division.

After his escape to West Germany in 1958, Rahm finally played for the Munich Löwen, where he made a name for himself in the football scene. He remembers impressive encounters with world stars like Uwe Seeler and Pele. "Pele was technically incredible. I was impressed by his ability to raise the ball over myself and to take it back on the other side," reports Rahm with shining eyes.

After his active career, Rahm did not leave the football world behind. He took over the management of the AGFA plant in Peiting and organized lovingly planned benefit games, for which numerous celebrities came to the region. He was one of his friends like Oscar Prize winners Maximilian Schell or Ski Ass Christian Neureuther.

family and personal values

The life story of Günter Rahm is also a tribute to the family. His daughters and four grandchildren and a great -grandchild lived in the Munich area, but liked to come to Peiting for birthday parties to celebrate with him. Rahm suspects that his daughters in the village were always known as "the girls from the cream". His eldest daughter Sabine was the only girl to play with the boys in the school team and showed her talent at the first match by scoring two goals.

The day of honor was not only an occasion to celebrate, but also an opportunity to express his most intimate wish: health. After all, life is valued with old age, and for him the family gang are of central importance. "Health is everything, especially for my family," explains Rahm, who patiently signed autograph cards that show him in the blue dress of his club. "Once blue, always blue", the passionate fans still chant.

In view of the past and the challenges that Rahm has overcome, his smile and positive attitude is not only to be felt at his celebration, but also in the memories of a time that shaped him. His life path is an inspiring example of stamina and the strength to create great things for difficult circumstances.
