Wiener Stadtgartl: Green paradise for all garden fans is starting now!
A new pilot project called "Wiener Stadtgartl" gives the residents of Vienna the opportunity to rent their own garden parcels. From now on, interested people can rent areas in the Floridsdorf and Donaustadt districts. This initiative aims to transform unused areas into green oases and enable access to green spaces for more people. According to vienna.at The plots consist of two locations: Julius-Ficker-Straße in Floridsdorf and Biberhaufweg in Donaustadt.
A total of 49 plots are available that have sizes from 70 to 110 square meters and are separated from natural hedges. Each plot is equipped with a pergola and no development beyond it is necessary. The rents are between 430 and 460 euros annually, although the price in Floridsdorf is 430 euros for 31 plots, while in Donaustadt 18 plots are available for 460 euros per year. The city of Vienna also ensures the community infrastructure that includes toilets, cooking facilities as well as water and power connections.
