Avalanche risk of ski tour: Three winter athletes escape death!
A dramatic event occurred in the Austrian mountains today when a group of four winter sports enthusiasts set out to go to a ski tour. At 11:00 a.m., the women and three men made their way from the Kartite saddle on the way over the Schöntal to the big Kinigat. Around 2:15 p.m. they reached the width stable at a height of approx. 2,250 meters. A tragedy could only be averted by reacting quickly: a 28-year-old activated his avalanche airbag and remained intact, while a 25-year-old was partially buried up to the hip but was able to escape independently. Only the 24-year-old Hungarian was in the predicament to just look out of the snow with his head; Fortunately, his friends were able to dig him out in time. Everyone involved was unharmed, but they had to be flown into the valley with a helicopter due to lost skis.
