Used car prices fall: Now the best time is to buy!
Deutschland - The price situation on the used car market has noticeably changed in the past few months. According to Kosmo , the average price for used cars dropped to 29,750 euros in March 2025. The market thus records a price drop of 0.92 percent or 277 euros compared to the previous month. This development is primarily due to the stability of prices in 2023.
However, the demand for used car shows a mixed picture. In March 2025, demand increased, especially for vehicles between the ages of 3 and 5 and 10 to 20 years. Particularly sought -after segments are the upper class with an average price of 31,006 euros and a demand increase of 22 percent, as well as the compact class, which has a price of 21,433 euros with an increase of 13 percent.

market development and forecast
The developments on the used car market are not to be considered isolated. rtl reports that the entire market is tilting and car dealers are counting for 2023 with continuing falling prices. These price adjustments are a reaction to the excessive prices during pandemic when there were massive delivery problems for microchips and long waiting times.
The demand for used cars has risen sharply in recent years because many private customers and companies switch to these vehicles. Nevertheless, there are sober forecasts. Antje Woltermann, managing director of the Central Association of German Motor Motor Show, describes the past price fluctuations as abnormal and indicates that prices could fall back to a normal level. A VW manager is also cautious and predicts a difficult and insecure year for 2023.
The coming months will show whether the price trends are stabilizing or whether there are other significant declines that could have a lasting impact on the used car market.
