Bordesholm raises the alarm: wastewater fee increases by 22%!

Bordesholm, Deutschland - In Bordesholm, households must expect a significant increase in wastewater fees from 2025. The Wastewater Association Bordesholmer Land has decided to increase the disposal fee from currently 3.22 euros to EUR 3.92 per cubic meter of dirty water, which corresponds to a drastic increase of 22 percent. This means an additional annual effort of up to 140 euros for a typical four-person household, which produces around 200 cubic meters of wastewater annually, the Kieler Nachrichten .

But that was not all - the drinks water prices are also following. From 2025, the Bordesholm (VBB) supply companies will increase the price of fresh water from 1.85 euros to EUR 2.46 per cubic meter. This adds up to a further 122 euros a year for the same average budget. Overall, the additional burden for Bordesholm households will increase to around 262 euros per year. According to those responsible, these increases are due to increased personnel, energy and planning costs, while the wastewater association also has to fight with a deficit in the household. After all, the reduction in rainwater delivery to 0.17 euros per square meter, as decided in December, should bring some relief, reports the website of the supply company Bordesholm .

The debate about the increases in fees was not without resistance. Political voices, in particular from the Green Group, expressed concerns that the 70 cents increase was noticeable for consumers. Despite these objections, the increase happened by a large majority. If you look into the future, the responsible persons are planning to invest around 1.3 million euros in sewage technology in order to implement urgently required measures, but the households could only benefit in the long term.
