A shocking case of animal abuse was uncovered in the district of Stade when the police and the veterinary office caught a woman from Balje, 75 dogs, five cats and two parlor under catastrophic conditions. Originally, the animal owner had only registered 25 animals, but a control campaign in November revealed the true number of suffering animals. The woman who claimed to operate an animal protection courtyard was obviously overwhelmed and was no longer able to offer the animals with species -appropriate care. The authorities have been concerned about the keeping of the animals since autumn 2022, but several control attempts had previously failed, as NDR reported.
