Viennese youth in fear: survey shows alarming security situation!
A new IFES survey shows an alarming security situation for children and adolescents in Vienna: 33 percent of 16- to 17-year-olds feel unsafe, 19 percent even "not at all safe". The feeling of security of young girls is particularly tense, as the FPÖ-Vienna club chairman Maximilian Krauss emphasizes: "These numbers speak a clear language: Our youth suffers from the consequences of a missed security policy in Vienna." He sees the causes of increasing violence in uncontrolled immigration, especially thousands of young men who came to Vienna as part of the asylum system. Krauss calls for increased police presence and stricter controls and criticizes the use of taxpayers for "senseless projects". According to Krauss, the city government ignored the reality of girls and young women who are "afraid, and rightly so".
Education and security in Vienna potentially endangered
In addition to the worrying security situation, there are serious concerns about the educational situation in Vienna. A quarter of the elementary school students cannot follow the lessons due to poor knowledge of German, although 80 percent have visited kindergarten. It is even more dramatic that two thirds of these students were born in Austria. Amazing 77 percent in everyday life do not speak German among the middle students, with values over 90 percent in districts such as Margareten, Ottakring and Hernals. The situation could continue to tighten every month due to the expected family reunification of 300 children from Syria and Afghanistan, the German skills of which are hardly available. The increasing number of suspensions in Viennese schools and the associated difficulty in dealing with pupils from different cultures with respect are alarming indicators for a critical development in the education system, which could also affect security. Krauss emphasizes that the existing policy of the red-green city government does not solve the problems, but on the contrary.
The common assumption that uncontrolled immigration is a solution to existing problems is questioned by experts as well as the current conditions in schools endanger the training of future specialists. As Maximilianauss.at , this not only leads to a lack of respect, but also to a further decline in school quality.
