Politics thriller in Thuringia: Wagenknecht party is pulling the coalition!

Stand: 07.11.2024 4:27 pm

In a dramatic political game in Saxony, the conversations between the Wagenknecht party BSW and the government parties CDU and SPD failed abruptly! However, the CDU and SPD in Thuringia and Brandenburg are unimpressed and continue their negotiations. Thuringia's CDU boss Mario Voigt remains optimistic: "In times of great uncertainty, Thuringia needs a stable government!"

The break in Saxony came as a surprise when the BSW broke off the conversations because the CDU and SPD refused to support a peace policy. BSW boss Sabine Zimmermann sharply criticized the parties: "Whoever makes politics is losing the people in the country." The CDU and SPD accuse the BSW of having broken their commitments and staging the fracture to distract from their responsibility.

Thuringia and Brandenburg continue to negotiate

Despite the turbulence in Saxony, the possibility of a coalition with the BSW in Thuringia and Brandenburg remains. In Brandenburg, the SPD and BSW have already started their coalition negotiations, whereby the influence of Wagenknecht could be larger here. The SPD in Brandenburg is optimistic and explains: "We continue negotiating!"

The BSW is under pressure to clarify its foreign policy claims in a coalition agreement. A state party conference on November 23 could be crucial to determine the direction of the negotiations. While the CDU and SPD in Thuringia continue to work towards an agreement, the political landscape remains tense and full of uncertainties.
