Young generation of the SPÖ: new course set for the future!
Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - On December 7, 2024, over 150 delegates came together for the Federal Conference of the Young Generation in the SPÖ to choose a new federal executive board. Among those present were prominent guests such as the federal women's chairman Eva-Maria Holzleitner and the mayor of Salzburg, Bernhard Aubinger. Michael Kögl, who has been chairman of the SPÖ youth department since 2022, was re-elected with impressive 96.8 percent of the votes. In his speech, Kögl made it clear that the young generation of the SPÖ has mastered numerous challenges in the past two years, from election campaigns to a clear plan for the future of young people. Under the motto "Getting the future again", Kögl formulated the goal of improving the lives of young people and emphasized the importance of a noticeable policy in the opposition as well as in the government. He was optimistic and combative, especially in view of the current global political tendencies. In addition, the first women*conference of the young generation took place the day before, in which Stefanie Grötz was chosen as a women*spokeswoman, as also reported.These new elections are not only a sign of trust in the current leaders, but also a clear indication that the young generation is willing to stay in the SPÖ and actively act against anti -democratic tendencies. "We will not give you peace of mind!" Says Kögl, and thus demonstrates the determination of his organization to work for the principles of democracy even in difficult times.
