Hesse in the crisis: Prime Minister announces bridge budget!

The Hessian state government is under pressure! A drastic "bridge budget" will be put together with an alarming tax estimate that predicts reduced 900 million euros for this and next year. Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU) left no doubt in Wiesbaden on Tuesday that the situation is serious: "We clearly recognized the seriousness of the situation in which we are." The measures are clear: The second stage of the salary increase for state officials is postponed indefinitely, and every third -free civil servant will remain vacant!

"We are in a really serious economic crisis and an economic flaut that hits the public budgets enormously," said Rhein. But don't worry, inner security and education should not be saved! The Prime Minister emphasizes that the priorities are clearly set: "There will be no cuts in internal security, education, and we stand by our commitments." Nevertheless, the need for consolidation remains enormous. The first step towards increasing salary for the civil servants remains, but the second step is postponed by four months to December 1, 2025, which will save the country a total of 180 million euros.

criticism from the opposition

The opposition sounds the alarm! "Before the summer holidays, Schwarz-Rot decided on a supplementary budget and the increase in salary-now the coalition is now being tung by its self-made budget crisis and commits word fracture," says Miriam Dahlke from the Greens. The CDU also sharply criticizes Marion Schardt-Sauer from the FDP: the draft budget will not be presented to the public and the parliament until the end of November, while the CDU is already pre-prone to its measures. The uncertainty about the future of the civil servants and the financial situation of Hesse remains high, while the government is trying to find a way out of the crisis.
