Choose barrier -free: This is how blind associations support in the Bundestag election!

On Wednesday, February 19, the political landscape in Klausen-Leopoldsdorf was reorganized with the constitution of the new municipal council. In the meeting room of our community, the retirement council, SPÖ councilor Josef Specht, headed the election of the mayor. The previous mayor, Manfred Krombholz, received a clear vote of trust with 19 votes and was unanimously confirmed in office. This marks an important moment for local politics and ensures stability in the community.

The upcoming Bundestag election on February 23, 2025 is particularly interesting, to which all citizens entitled to vote are called up. According to the information from Singen.de , special emphasis is placed on the fact that people with reading problems or physical restrictions also have the opportunity to vote. Support from auxiliary persons is permitted here, and postal voting also offers an important alternative. In order to facilitate voting, special stencils are available for visually impaired and blind voters, supplemented by an audio CD that explains the use and provides the content of the ballot.

The provision of this aid shows that democracy should also be made more accessible to people with impairments. The stencils and audio materials can be requested free of charge from the blind and visually impaired associations. The measures are an important step to ensure that every citizen entitled to vote, regardless of their situation, can take part in the elections. This commitment to inclusion is particularly visible in the upcoming Bundestag election and is expected to be greeted by many voters.
