Vienna election 2025: ÖVP fights for security and clear solutions!
Wien, Österreich - The Viennese election on April 27 is just around the corner, and the ÖVP relies on the motto "Whoever really loves Vienna, choose ÖVP" to mobilize voters. Top candidate Karl Mahrer sees the upcoming choice as a decisive course for the future of the city. In his speech, he emphasizes the contrast between his party and the SPÖ, which in his eyes is characterized by political fatigue. Mahrer appeals to the voters to choose a "real turn" that promotes security, collaboration and order. He also speaks of a ten-point plan that addresses particularly youth violence and crime, and calls for the attitude of 1,500 additional police officers in Vienna to strengthen the security feeling of citizens, as ORF reports .
The ÖVP wants to not only underline the love for the city with its campaign, but also name the problems in concrete terms and offer solutions. Mahrer emphasizes that the SPÖ and the Greens and NEOs are responsible for the grievances of the past few years, while the FPÖ has no real interest in solutions. The ÖVP takes up topics such as integration and security and presents them with slogans such as "German is mandatory. Habibi" and "Please pssst" to point out challenges such as knife power or educational deficits, as well as the Kleine Zeitung explained. Mahrer emphasizes that his goal is to strengthen the ÖVP in such a way that it comes into a government responsibility and can actively name problems and develop solutions.
Financial framework and election goals
The ÖVP has planned a budget of 3.5 million euros for the election campaign, making less than the 5 million euros proposed by the SPÖ and NEOS. Despite low survey values, Mahrer is unimpressed by these numbers, which strengthens his trust in the voter decisions. The newly designed election brochure, which emphasizes the central positions of the party, should get stuck in the residential rooms of the supporters and set a lasting sign. With clear messages and a decent plan, the ÖVP pursues a clear strategy to win over voters and to bring about changes in Vienna.
