Question of trust in the Bundestag: Scholz announces new elections!
The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) asked a question of trust in the Bundestag, which will probably lead to his loss of vote. This intentionally lost coordination has far -reaching consequences: the Bundestag can prepare for a resolution, followed by new elections on February 23. In his speech, Scholz expressed sharply against the Free Democrats (FDP) and its chairman Christian Lindner by emphasizing: "The truth about this spectacle has now come to light." He made it clear that politics is not a gimmick and that responsibility goes far beyond the interests of a single party, as OE24 reported.
Scholz spoke out again for the coalition he led and said that despite considerable resistance from the FDP, he always wrestled for compromises. The decision to end the coalition was not easy, but it was inevitable to make the government able to act again. He regrets the damage that this "spectacle" not only affects the government's reputation, but also democracy. He stated: "We owe the citizens decency and seriousness". This turbulent situation is in contrast to the last statements by the former Greens boss Ricarda Lang, who commented on her previous political statements. In an ARD show, she explained to be ashamed of "less motorway construction" and a "solar expansion offensive" that was not implemented for her party, which she described as embarrassing, as FAZ.NET
Lang criticized the existing communication strategy in politics, which distinguishes too much between winners and losers, and called for a rethink in the way how political issues are presented. Instead of concentrating on party sequence, it is more important to take care of the actual needs and concerns of citizens. The political developments concerned show how intensively the political debates are up to date and make it clear that the leadership styles within the parties are questioned.
